Dark Descent and Fruit Mania!

The workshop was attended by 60 Year 9 pupils. It is the third year we have run the programme. The judges said it was the best group of pupils they had ever had and praised the teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm of all the groups. They noted that the energy that the pupils put into their presentations was commendable and that if anyone of them applied to city firms we are sure they would certainly get an interview!
We are very grateful to the six volunteers from PwC who assisted the pupils.
Pupils were divided into 10 different teams. Their challenge was to design and build (out of paper and card) a rollercoaster. The model had to work using a marble. They had to think of a name for their ride, create a radio ad and provide rationale including budget considerations. They then had to present all that to the judges.
The range of designs was quite spectacular and the judges agreed that choosing winners was very difficult. Fruit Mania delivered some of their presentation in German (with translation) which the judges commended. The Dark Descent team were praised not only for their design but also their grasp of the financial implications.
