Summer at the Globe
Summer Globe Theatre Summary :
A warm environment with lots of friendly people greeted us at the Globe theatre. We started the day with some basic exercises to learn the names of the people we were working with but as the workshop progressed we proceeded to study and improvise on real works of Shakespeare and allow our instinctive drama skills to take over.

On the 28th -29th July I went with two other students on a 2 day course at The Globe Theatre on the South Bank. The course was all day, it was formed of different workshops and acting technique classes. Obviously the topic of the days was Shakespeare and by the end we were all reacting to Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth. I feel the trip was great fun and worthwhile and we all learnt numerous acting skills, techniques and new games. The main focus of the trip was showing our emotion through acting. We did this by learning ‘character walking’ and different facial expressions. Overall I really enjoyed the trip and I think it would be a great idea to introduce other children to it. During the summer holidays I was given the chance to take part in a G&T workshop at ‘Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre’. The course was two days and throughout those two days we were given the chance to perform extracts of Shakespeare’s plays to children from other schools who are of the same standard as me and my peers from The Charter School. We were encouraged to get involved with the other pupils and test our knowledge of drama. We were introduced to new methods of acting using lots of emotion and power in your voice. Various new games were introduced and the methods of acting have helped me improve my performing techniques. One activity that we took part in helped me hugely was character hierarchy. How you acted depended on the importance of your character. Overall the whole experience was great and I have decided to take up my place in the Globe Youth Theatre. Thank you for the opportunity.
