What we have achieved
The School Council
Whole School Achievements 2010/2011
Environment – Gold Eco Schools Award. Waiting final certification from Southwark Council.
Teaching and Learning – KS3 Receptionist job – researched and planned with our receptionists the new job description for work starting in September 2011.
Communication – Students as lesson observers. They tested the project across the Humanities department and next year11 will progress the project across the whole school.
Other activities
- YPI charity project: Shannon Quiley, Amy Auld, Damini Oatel, Hollie Manning won £3000 for a local charity supporting victims of alcoholism called Mount Carmel.
- Eco warriors and Eco Rangers – y11’s Joel and William, y8’s Edward, Daniel, Anton and Aytash
- Y7: investigated and discussed kitchen’s prices, met the kitchen staff and have made a number of suggestions to improve the system which have been taken on board.
- Y8: implementing the sustainable travelling project for which they now have up to £4000 to spend – they won the bid for their amazing ideas.
- Y9: Tavistock project – school link
- Y10: fundraising at The Charter school: researched and analysed the options for a successful, non-disruptive, fundraising event as a fixture in our school calendar. They presented it at leadership meetings and are now refining the project proposal focusing on highlighting the virtue of charity (‘giving’).
- Y11: production of year book
- Y12:
- Chairs/sofas in cyber café & TV in common room
- Football access to ball courts- lunch time/after school
- Choice of after school activities e.g. yoga
- 6th form computer room card access only
- From next year 6th form new swipe cards will give access to main entrance, A block, post 16 computer room and common room
- Charity collections – Crisis at Christmas collected between £400-500
