Trips
A group of Year 12 students recently visited leading law firm, Olswang based in Holborn. Ten of our Career Academy students went along. Here are some of their comments:
I think the tour of the building was well presented and the people where pleasant, they made me feel welcome. I wouldn’t of wanted anything more

I found that having a higher ratio of the members to us the visitors/students was extremely good as there were many people there to give advice and answer questions.
Overall the trip opened my eyes to all the possibilities in the business world.
I feel that the experience overall was really good and that there’s no need for improvement apart from maybe making the presentation slightly shorter and the tour and Questions and Answers slightly longer.

On my trip to Olswang the surroundings of the spectacular building kept the whole class in awe, most people were shocked by the superb hospitality we received from everyone at Olswang as it was completely unexpected. We found the presentation and question and answer session very helpful and added to my knowledge of a business environment which was primarily the reason we went on the trip. I never expected a business law firm to be such an interesting experience and it would be a dream to come and do an internship at Olswang in the summer of 2009. In the long term Olswang has also made me think one day I could work for a firm like this.
one criticism I must address was that the tour was very brief and could have shown us more of the building and the history of the building, I also think that when we were split up into tables I think each student should have taken a member of staff each in which the student chooses the field they have most interest in, i.e. I have a huge interest in media and sport which, but on my table there was no one who worked in the media and sport sectors of the firm. Other then this I would like to thank Olswang for letting the charter school visit your organisation.

I found the event quite enjoyable and I also found your company interesting. It was a good experience to see what kind of environment the business and law world is like. I would hope to gain an internship at Olswang

I found the event highly enjoyable and it was very insightful because it helped me to get more information about what things are required for me to gain an carer in law and business. Additionally it allowed me to gain an insight of what life is like in a business environment. The staff were so welcoming and I would love to gain an internship at Olswang.
