Southwark Youth Orchestra (SYO) - Calling all Musicians!

This new and exciting project continues. The community orchestra is open to all young people either living or going to school in Southwark. SYO has a Grade 4/5 (or equivalent standard) entry level.

We had a fantastic course over the summer holidays led by Ben Gernon and we are planning a new course led by Ben again for two days over half term so we are actively recruiting new members to join the ranks.

With Ben will be professional tutors running specialist workshops for the different instrumentalists. There will be a final concert for the musicians to share and celebrate their achievements.

Don’t let the word orchestra put you off! If you play a non-orchestral instrument (e.g. saxophone, recorder, piano, guitar, drums) but would like to join SYO, please get in touch, you will have a great time.

Southwark will fund all the professional leadership and tuition but we will, unfortunately, have to charge a £25 administration fee per pupil (£15 for second and subsequent siblings) as a contribution to the core costs. If this is of any concern, please get in touch with Xanthe Sarr ...... details below. SYO is a community orchestra and is hugely important that all of Southwark’s young musicians can access this opportunity to perform alongside the borough’s most talented performers.

Southwark is a borough with much to be proud of. We hope you will support your borough by joining in.
