PE Overview

 
Over 700 pupils and students participate in over 20 after-school sports clubs every week.
Aims:
·    To provide a balanced PE curriculum that caters for all genders, abilities and ages.
·To provide the option of PE at GCSE level.
·To provide pupils with the opportunity to experience a range of sports including: strike and field; net and wall, invasion and evasion.
·To offer a wide range of after school clubs
·To enhance confidence and develop the vital skills of teamwork communication and group cohesion.
·To offer as many pupils as possible to take part in school teams
·To encourage our pupils to continue their sport after school
·To provide pupils links with local sports clubs in the area
·To offer inclusive and differentiated teaching that caters for all pupil needs.
Facilities:
·Astroturf — suitable for five-a-side football
·Superb sports hall offering more than 600 square metres of indoor space.
·Two covered flood-lit netball courts (for completion July 2008)
·Additional ball court
·Playing Fields – 5-minute walk from the school
·Swimming Club uses JAGS pool on Wednesday afternoons
·Tennis Club uses North Dulwich Tennis Club facilities
Awards
Junior Sports Leadership Award – Accredited by Sport England. Pupils will have the option of completing the Community Sports Leader Award in the senior school.
We are offering a number of students in Year 10 and Year 12 the chance to take Community Sports Leadership Awards. The 20 week course will then enable them to coach introductory sport to local primary school children.
One of our students has been named as just one of two Sports Ambassadors for Southwark.
Winners
Team Successes include:
·Under-15 South London Cup Football Champions
·Under-U14 South London Cup Football Runners-up
·Southwark Girls Football Tournament Winners
·Developing Schools League Winners playing Rugby.
·the Boys Swimming team reached the final of London Schools competition for first time
·Combined team of girls and boys were overall winners of the ‘Southwark Fun Games’, beating many private schools who have their own pools.
