Geography Trip to Snowdonia

GCSE Geography Snowdonia Trip 22nd – 25th October 2009 for year 10 pupils studying GCSE Geography 2009 - 2010

Year 10 pupil (2009 – 2010) will be studying the new OCR A specification for Geography, which aims to provide an innovative course encompassing relevant and modern geography fit for the 21st century.

Through this specification we seek to develop our pupils’ geographical skills and provide opportunities to combine geographical knowledge and understanding with personal development of key skills and vocation. It is a fresh and exciting way to study. We are all really excited about teaching this new course and if you would like to find out more, please follow this link http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/gcsefor2009/geography_a/

As part of the pupils learning experience for the first unit on extreme environments we would like to offer an opportunity to attend a four day residential field course in Snowdonia, Wales, staying near Llanberis.

It will be both educational, complementing the new curriculum as well as an activity programme where they can really experience a mountain landscape and develop key personal skills. Ourprimary aim is for pupils to experience mountains through activities that promote teamwork, problem solving, leadership, and personal challenge. To get a feel of how people use mountain environments by actually using them! The pupils will stay in an activity centre in the heart of the Snowdonia national park and have the opportunity to abseil, gorge scramble, and mountain trek, supervised at all times by qualified trainers provided by the outdoor expedition company, all waterproofs and equipment provided. (http://www.outlookexpeditions.com/).

Depart: Thursday 22nd October 2009 (early)
Return: Sunday 25th October 2009 (early eve) (NB Monday 26th is half term)
