NETBALL…..
Year 7 vs. Bacon’s
The Year 7 netball team played and won their first competitive match on Monday 21 November. The girls produced some outstanding team work and scored in the first couple of minutes. Bacon’s then equalised but there was fantastic defensive play which ensured that Bacon’s did not score again during the rest of the match. Another fantastic 2 goals were scored which left the final result 3-1 to Charter. Well done Girls. Team- Bisola Otun, Amber Sales, Harriet Humberstone, Sanna Malik, Isobel Raikes, Nia Harris Blair, Tehillah Williams, Trudy Yates, Marla Luxton.
Year 9 vs. Haberdashers’ Aske’s
Yesterday The Charter School Year 9s were ready for their match with faith to win. They started the match with great focus and concentration; the defending and attacking skills were great. By the first half we moved into a comfortable position with the score of 7-1. As we began the second half it was a much tighter affair but we maintained our lead, finally winning 12-5.
Year 9 vs. Bacon’s
Last week 11 girls set off to Bacon’s College to face them in a fierce netball match. Although the competition was good, the Charter girls finished the first quarter 4-0 with great attacking and defending skills. They then went on to win all other three quarters finishing with a final score of 18-3. But this would not have been possible without their great focus, determination and practice. The team: Kirsty Stober, Tey-Ney Moor, Francesca Varcoe, Vandita Kumar, Eva Betts, Rosa Tapsell, Dasiy Cullen Close, Shaniqua Fletcher Thomas, Seren Audley, Rachel Yates, Fatima Ceesay.
As a result, the Year 9 team have been chosen to represent Southwark in the Youth Games for the second year in a row and were winners of the Southwark Schools KS3 Netball festival as well as the matches listed above.
