TOP SCHOOL IN SOUTHWARK FOR GIFTED & TALENTED PUPILS
Recently released figures show that we are the top school in Southwark for meeting the needs of Gifted and Talented (G&T) pupils. All of the Year 11 G&T cohort in 2010 achieved at least 6A* or A grades at GCSE with many achieving more than 10. We are a national leader in G&T provision and as such have a larger number of Gifted and Talented students than many other schools. “These figures are a testament to the hard work of our pupils, their families and our staff. They act as a confirmation of the fantastic success that we have in catering to our most able pupils. It is clear that as a small family school we are able to nurture our high achieving pupils excellently. Every year our Gifted & Talented cohort increases and we look forward to even greater successes in the future.” Mr Sheppard
Pupils are provided with a rich and varied curriculum which includes the teaching of Mandarin to over 100 pupils in the school, Latin and Astronomy.
The school’s support extends beyond the classroom. Trips are organised every year to Oxford and Cambridge. This year the Year 12 G&T cohort visited Yale and Harvard in the USA. Parent Information evenings are also held to provide information on how best to support the learning and future opportunities for their children.
THIRD IN LONDON
We have just been recognised by the Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, as being one the most improved schools in the country over the last three years. The Charter School is the third highest achieving school in London of the top 60 most improved schools nationally. The other two schools are based north of the river.
This is a tremendous accolade and a great testament to the hard work of the pupils, staff, governors and parents.
