The homework timetable reflects the pupil’s lesson timetable and the day on which the homework is set. We understand that this means that some days they will be set more homework than on others. To ease the load, pupils are usually given more than one night to complete it and in some cases this could be up to a week.
In some circumstances homework may not be set. However, it is extremely unlikely that pupils will have been allowed to complete homework during lesson time.
We would recommend that in KS3 pupils have a maximum of 1 to 1.5 hrs per night, building up from roughly 20 minutes per subject set per lesson in Year 7 to 30 minutes in Year 9. At KS4, we recommend 1 to 1.5 hrs per subject per week in yr 10 and 1.5 hrs max per subject for yr 11.
